Day 1 — Arrival into Gustavus

  • Arrive at Gustavus – Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park.
  • Check into your rental vehicle in Glacier Bay, provided throughout your Gustavus stay.

Spend the day exploring Glacier Bay National Park

Day 2 — Glacier Bay National Park

  • Cruise all day through Glacier Bay National Park and take in the sights of wildlife and glacier calving. A Glacier Bay Park Ranger will be on board to share insights about the marine ecosystem.
  • Enjoy a Rainforest Walk with a local ranger, learn about the history of Glacier Bay National Park

Day 3 — Glacier Bay to Anchorage

  • Enjoy an intimate four-hour cruise exploring the Icy Straits and Point Adolphus, famous for a high concentration of whales and marine wildlife.
  • Flight is provided from Gustavus to Anchorage on Alaska Airline
  • Arrival in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city located at the base of the Chugach Mountains
  • Check into a late model rental vehicle in Anchorage (vehicle provided with unlimited mileage)

Enjoy the Southside View of Denali on a Zipline Tour

Day 4 — Anchorage to Denali

  • Drive from Anchorage to Denali on the scenic Glenn & Parks Highway (237 miles, approx. 4-hour drive)
  • Experience the most northern Zipline Tour in Alaska- take a guided three hour tour over the a boreal forest with a view of Denali
  • Drive the first 15 miles of the Denali National Park Road to Savage River where it is common to see Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep and Grizzly Bears (no private vehicles allowed beyond the Savage River Bridge)
  • Take a 3.5-hour tour in the Denali backcountry traveling in a horse-drawn covered wagon – enjoy a wilderness BBQ gourmet meal (all-you-can-eat dinner)

Day Hiking and Wildlife Viewing in Denali National Park

Day 5 — Denali National Park

  • Pick up a picnic backpack lunch for your day in Denali National Park
  • Watch a Denali Nat’l Park Ranger sled-dog presentation to learn about managing the park during the winter season
  • Spend the day exploring Denali National Park. Take the Shuttle Transit Bus for a 6-hour tour. Enjoy extensive wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery at your own pace

Raft the Nenana River

Day 6 — Denali Rafting & ATV Backcountry

  • Explore the north side of Denali while looking for wildlife on the Stampede Road
  • Take a white-water rafting tour or a scenic float trip down the Nenana River (3 hour tour)
  • Take a 3.5 hour tour in the Denali back country riding a ATV – wilderness BBQ meal included

Enjoy a scenic drive back down the Parks Highway

Day 7 — Denali to Talkeetna

  • Drive from Denali to Talkeetna – have another opportunity to enjoy this scenic drive (approx. 2.5 hours drive)
  • Explore the Denali Highway, drive part of this beautiful wilderness drive to view the famous Alaska Range, sprawling tundra and possible wildlife viewing
  • Enjoy a 3.5 hour 50 mile wilderness  river tour, travel by jet boat through the famous Chulitna Gorge while enjoying the majestic scenery of Denali State Park. Visit a local homestead to learn about remote homestead life in Alaska.

Day 8 — Talkeetna Hurricane Train

  • Explore the history of Talkeetna on a walking tour and visit the local museum
  • Ride the historic Alaska Railroad roundtrip on a flag-stop train to the homestead community of Hurricane (a 6-hour tour)
  • Talkeetna lodging provided

Flight-See Denali & Experience a Glacier Landing

Day 9 — Talkeetna to Anchorage

  • Take a 1.5-hour flight-seeing tour of Mt. Denali and the Alaska Range (glacier landing included)
  • Drive from Talkeetna to Anchorage – enjoy another opportunity to explore the Parks & Glenn Highways (approx. 2 hours of drive time)
  • Enjoy a relaxing afternoon with sightseeing as you make your way back to Anchorage
  • Look for wildlife while you take a stroll along the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to explore the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge
  • Return rental vehicle, transportation provided to the Anchorage Airport
