Day 1 — Anchorage to Denali

  • Arrival in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city located at the base of the Chugach Mountains
  • Check into a late model rental vehicle in Anchorage (vehicle provided with unlimited mileage)
  • Drive from Anchorage to Denali on the scenic Glenn & Parks Highway (237 miles, approx. 4-hour drive)
  • Enjoy a 1.5 hour Denali Flightseeing Tour – Experience a Glacier Landing
  • Explore Denali State Park and Byers Lake- an excellent location for hiking, wildlife viewing and kayaking

Day 2 — Denali National Park

  • Watch a Denali Nat’l Park Ranger sled-dog presentation to learn about managing the park during the winter season
  • Pick up a picnic backpack lunch for your day in Denali National Park
  • Spend the day exploring Denali National Park- ride the transit bus on a 6-hour tour. Enjoy extensive wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery at your own pace.

Travel aboard the Riverboat Discovery

Day 3 — Denali to Fairbanks

  • Enjoy a scenic drive on the Parks Highway from Denali to Fairbanks ( approx. 2-hour drive)
  • Arrive in the Far North remote small city of Fairbanks
  • Ride the historic steamboat Riverboat Discovery down the Chena River & Tanana Rivers
  • Explore the historic side of Fairbanks – visit Pioneer Park and the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center

Day 4 — Fairbanks to Glennallen

  • Enjoy a short train ride to the historic Gold Dredge # 8 Mine for a tour and gold panning experience
  • Enjoy a scenic drive through miles of wilderness from Fairbanks to Glennallen ( approx. 4-hour drive)
  • Visit the small community of North Pole and the world’s largest Santa
  • Enjoy a side trip on the Denali Highway – Have lunch at the Tangle Lakes Lodge Cafe
  • Arrive into the small community of Glennallen, located close to Wrangell St. Elias National Park

Blueberry Lake & Thompson Pass on the Richardson Hwy

Day 5 — Glennallen to Valdez

  • Visit Wrangell St. Elias National Park & the scenic Copper River Valley
  • Enjoy the scenic Richardson Highway from Glennallen to Valdez (approx. 2-hours of drive time)
  • Explore Worthington Glacier, Thompson Pass, and Blueberry Lake – famous for mountain vistas and wildflowers
  • Arrive in the small city of Valdez, located on the shores of the Prince William Sound

Explore Exit Glacier and the Harding Icefield

Day 6 — Valdez to Seward

  • Travel across the Prince William Sound aboard the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry from Valdez  to Whittier (6-hour trip – vehicle included)
  • Drive from Seward to Whittier (90-mile drive, including the Bear Valley Tunnel)
  • Visit Portage Glacier Valley, known for its display of wildflowers & hanging glaciers.
  • Arrive into the picturesque small bayside village of Seward – the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park

Day 7 — Kenai Fjords National Park

  • Enjoy a full day of wildlife and glacier viewing aboard a high-speed catamaran – explore Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park with a National Park Ranger on board – a deli-style lunch and hot beverages provided
  • In the early evening, explore the Caines Head Trail, where it is common to see Bald Eagles and Marine Wildlife along the shores of Resurrection Bay.

Stop to visit the small village of Ninilchik

Day 8 — Seward to Homer

  • Tour the Alaska Sealife Center, one of Alaska’s most extensive marine wildlife research centers
  • Drive from Seward to Homer ( 179 miles, approx. 3.5 hour drive)
  • Explore the Kenai Wildlife Refuge – Enjoy day hiking and wildlife viewing
  • Arrive into Homer – a bay-side village with fantastic views located on the shores of Kachemak Bay State Park.

Explore Halibut Cove & Kachemak Bay State Park

Day 9 — Explore Homer

  • Spend a relaxing day exploring the small bayside community of Homer.  Explore the Homer Spit, visit the Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitor Center, and the Carl Wynn Nature Center. Enjoy wildlife viewing along the shores of Kachemak Bay.
  • Take the historical Danny J Ferry across Kachemak Bay to Halibut Cove, a remote, unique Alaskan village (accessible only by small boat and bush plane)

Explore Halibut Cove & Kachemak Bay State Park

Day 10 — Homer to Anchorage

  • Enjoy a return drive up the Kenai Peninsula from Homer to Anchorage (approx. 4 hours drive time)
  • Visit a wildlife conservation center to learn about animal research, conservation, and animal care.
  • Ride the Anchorage Trolley to visit historical locations throughout downtown Anchorage.
  • Look for wildlife while you take a stroll along the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to explore the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge.
  • Return rental vehicle, transportation provided to the Anchorage Airport
