Day 1 — Arrival into Gustavus

  • Arrive at Gustavus – Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park.

Day 2 — Glacier Bay National Park

  • Cruise all day through Glacier Bay National Park and take in the sights of wildlife and glacier calving. A Glacier Bay Park Ranger will be on board to share insights about the marine ecosystem.
  • Enjoy a Rainforest Walk with a local ranger, learn about the history of Glacier Bay National Park.

Whale Watching in the Icy Strait

Day 3 — Glacier Bay to Anchorage

  • Enjoy an intimate four-hour cruise exploring the Icy Straits and Point Adolphus, famous for a high concentration of whales and marine wildlife.
  • Flight is provided from Gustavus to Anchorage
  • Arrival in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city located at the base of the Chugach Mountains
  • Check into a late model rental vehicle in Anchorage (vehicle provided with unlimited mileage)

Day 4 — Anchorage to Seward

  • Drive the scenic Seward Highway from Anchorage to Soldotna (approx. 2-hour drive)
  • Travel by Float Plane across the Cook Inlet to Lake Clark National Park – Enjoy upclose bear viewing for 5 hours.
  • Continue your scenic drive, and you will arrive in the picturesque small bayside village of Seward—the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park.

Spend the day in Kenai Fjords National Park

Day 5 —Kenai Fjords National Park

  • Enjoy a full day of wildlife and glacier viewing aboard a high-speed catamaran – explore Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park with a National Park Ranger on board – a deli-style lunch and hot beverages provided
  • In the early evening, explore the Caines Head Trail, where it is common to see Bald Eagles and Marine Wildlife along the shores of Resurrection Bay

Drive the scenic Seward Highway

Day 6 — Seward to Valdez-Alaska Marine Hwy

  • Drive from Seward to Whittier (approx. 2-hour drive)
  • Visit Portage Glacier Valley known for its display of wildflowers & hanging glaciers
  • Travel across the Prince William Sound aboard the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry from Whittier to Valdez (6-hour trip – vehicle transfer included)
  • Arrive in the small city of Valdez, located on the shores of the Prince William Sound.

Day 7 — Valdez to Glennallen

  • Choose from either a guided kayak tour of the Valdez Glacier or take a wildlife and glacier cruise to the Columbia Glacier in the beautiful Prince William Sound.
  • Enjoy the scenic Richardson Highway from Valdez to Glennallen (2 hours of drive time)
  • Explore Worthington Glacier, Thompson Pass and Blueberry Lake – famous for mountain vistas and wildflowers

Day 8 — Wrangell St Elias National Park

  • Visit Wrangell St. Elias National Park & the scenic Copper River Valley
  • Enjoy a Wilderness Drive on the scenic Edgerton – McCarthy Road (approx. 3 hour drive)
  • Enjoy lunch at a the scenic Kennicott Glacier Lodge – Explore the small historical villages of Kennecott and McCarthy
  • Take a guided walking tour of the historical Kennecott Mine – Learn about the unique history of remote McCarthy and Kennecott
  • Spend the rest of day exploring Wrangell St Elias National Park – Enjoy a scenic drive back to Glennallen

Drive the scenic roads to Denali

Day 9 — Glennallen to Denali

  • Enjoy one of Alaska’s most famous wilderness drives; travel from Glennallen to Denali through 240 miles of wilderness – the drive includes the remote Richardson Highway, the Denali Highway (a dirt road of 130 miles), and part of the Parks Highway
  • Drive the first 15 miles of the Denali National Park Road to Savage River, where it is common to see Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep, and Grizzly Bears.
  • Take a 3.5-hour tour in the Denali backcountry traveling in a horse-drawn covered wagon – enjoy a wilderness BBQ gourmet meal (all-you-can-eat dinner

Spend the day exploring Denali National Park

Day 10 —Denali National Park

  • Pick up a picnic backpack lunch for your day in Denali National Park.
  • Watch a Denali Nat’l Park Ranger sled-dog presentation to learn about managing the park during the winter season.
  • Spend the day exploring Denali National Park. Take the Shuttle Transit Bus for a 6-hour tour. Enjoy extensive wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery at your own pace.

Day 11 — Denali to Anchorage

  • Take a white-water rafting tour or a scenic float trip down the Nenana River (3-hour tour)
  • Enjoy a scenic drive down the Parks Highway from Denali to Anchorage (approx. 4-hour drive)
  • Explore Denali State Park – enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife viewing
  • Look for wildlife while you take a stroll along the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to explore the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge
