Enjoy a scenic drive up the Parks Highway

Day 1 — Anchorage to Talkeetna

  • Arrival in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city located at the base of the Chugach Mountains
  • Check into a late model rental vehicle in Anchorage (vehicle provided with unlimited mileage)
  • Drive from Anchorage to Talkeetna on the scenic Glenn & Parks Highway ( approx. 2-hour drive)
  • Enjoy a guided tour of a Musk Ox Farm – learn about these unique Ice Age animals – their fine underwool of Qiviut and their historical native relationship in the Far North
  • Explore Hatcher Pass, famous for its Wild Blueberries and display of Wildflowers – Visit the historical Independence State Mine
  • Enjoy a 3.5-hour tour of the Talkeetna River, travel by jet boat through the famous Chulitna Gorge while enjoying the majestic scenery of Denali State Park. Visit a local homestead to learn about remote

Day 2 —Explore Talkeetna & Denali state park

  • Enjoy the history of Talkeetna on a walking tour and visit the local museum
  • Pickup a custom lunch to enjoy on the Hurricane Train
  • Ride the historic afternoon Alaska Railroad round-trip on a flag-stop train to the homestead community of Hurricane (6 to 7-hour tour)

Day 3 — Talkeetna to Denali

  • Enjoy full mountain views of the Alaska Range and Denali as you drive the beautiful Parks Highway from Talkeetna to Denali (approx. 2.5-hour drive)
  • Drive the first 15 miles of the Denali National Park Road to Savage River, where it is common to see Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep, and Grizzly Bears.
  • Take a 3.5-hour tour in the Denali backcountry traveling in a horse-drawn covered wagon – enjoy a wilderness BBQ gourmet meal (all-you-can-eat dinner)

Spend the day exploring Denali National Park

Day 4 — Denali National Park

  • Watch a Denali Nat’l Park Ranger sled-dog presentation
  • Pick up a picnic backpack lunch for your day in Denali National Park
  • Spend the day exploring Denali National Park- travel on the Shuttle Transit Bus for a 6-hour tour, Enjoy extensive wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery at your own pace

Day 5 — Denali to Fairbanks

  • Drive from Denali to Fairbanks (approx. 2-hour drive)
  • Visit the small native village of Nenana located on the Nenana River
  • Arrive in the Far North remote small city of Fairbanks
  • Travel aboard the Tanana Valley Railroad for a short ride to Gold Dredge # 8 for a tour and gold panning experience
  • Take a relaxing soak at the Chena Hot Springs – Tour the Aurora Ice Museum and Enjoy a ride behind a Dog-Sled Team

Day 6 — Travel above the Arctic Circle

  • Travel by Bush plane to the remote native community of Fort Yukon located north of the Arctic Circle – enjoy a locally guided tour to learn about living in this remote Far North community located on the shores of the Yukon River

Day 7 — Fairbanks to Glennallen

  • Visit the University of Alaska Fairbanks Museum – enjoy local shows and presentations
  • Enjoy a scenic drive through miles of wilderness from Fairbanks to Glennallen ( approx. 4-hour drive)
  • Stop at the North Pole and the world’s largest Santa Claus
  • Visit the historic Rika’s Roadhouse and the small community of Delta Junction
  • Enjoy a late lunch or early dinner at the Tangle Lakes Lodge Cafe in a wilderness setting

Day 8 — Glennallen to Anchorage

  • Visit Wrangell St. Elias National Park & the scenic Copper River Valley
  • Drive the scenic Glenn Highway from Glennallen to Anchorage (approx. 3 hours of drive time)
  • Enjoy wildlife viewing of Dall Sheep at Sheep Mtn
  • Enjoy a 1-Hour Historical Trolley Tour of Anchorage
  • Return your rental vehicle, transportation provided to the Anchorage Airport
