Day 1 — Anchorage to Soldotna

  • Arrival in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city located at the base of the Chugach Mountains
  • Check into a late model rental vehicle in Anchorage (vehicle provided with unlimited mileage)
  • Drive the scenic Seward and Sterling Highways from Anchorage to Soldotna (approx. 2-hour drive)
  • Enjoy a 2.5-hour Jetboat Tour to a remote active glacier in the Twentymile Valley – Float among the glacier ice while enjoying stunning wilderness mountain scenery
  • Visit a wildlife conservation center to learn about animal research, conservation, and animal care

Experience a scenic flight tour of Lake Clark National Park and witness bear and wildlife viewing guided by experts.

Day 2 — Lake Clark National Park

  • Travel by Float Plane across the Cook Inlet to Lake Clark National Park – Enjoy a scenic flight-seeing tour then spend 5-hours with your guide with an intimate and up-close bear viewing experience.
  • Enjoy an evening visit to the Kenai Wildlife Refuge where it is common to view Moose and other wildlife.

Drive the scenic Seward Highway

Day 3 — Soldotna to Valdez-Alaska Marine Hwy

  • Drive from Soldotna to Whittier (approx. 2-hour drive)
  • Visit Portage Glacier Valley known for its display of wildflowers & hanging glaciers
  • Travel across the Prince William Sound aboard the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry from Whittier to Valdez (6-hour trip – vehicle transfer included)
  • Arrive in the small city of Valdez, located on the shores of the Prince William Sound.

Day 4 — Columbia Glacier Kayak Tour

  • Enjoy one of Alaska’s best glacier kayaking tours in the Prince William Sound at the Columbia Glacier Face- Spend the day with expert guides from Anadyr Adventures.
  • Enjoy the water taxi ride from Valdez to the Columbia Glacier Bay – then spend 4 hours kayaking. Enjoy viewing marine wildlife and and paddling around the Columbia Glacier Face.
  • This tour is a 10-hour fully guided tour, including 1 hour for preparation, a 4-hour water taxi ride to and from the Columbia Glacier (with stops for wildlife viewing when possible), 4 hours of kayaking, and 1 hour for lunch and rest.

Day 5 — Valdez to McCarthy

Day 6 — Wrangell St Elias National Park

  • Experience a 5-6 hour half day Guided Glacier Trek on the Root Glacier
  • In the late afternoon take the 2-hour guided historical Kennecott Mill Town Tour
  • Enjoy the historical setting of McCarthy & Wrangell St Elias National Park

Drive the scenic roads to Denali

Day 7 — Glennallen to Denali

  • Enjoy one of Alaska’s most famous wilderness drives; travel from Glennallen to Denali through 240 miles of wilderness – the drive includes the remote Richardson Highway, the Denali Highway (a dirt road of 130 miles), and part of the Parks Highway
  • Enjoy a wilderness lunch at the Tangle Lakes Lodge Cafe
  • Drive the first 15 miles of the Denali National Park Road to Savage River, where it is common to see Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep, and Grizzly Bears.

Spend the day exploring Denali National Park

Day 8—Denali National Park

  • Pick up a picnic backpack lunch for your day in Denali National Park.
  • Watch a Denali Nat’l Park Ranger sled-dog presentation to learn about managing the park during the winter season.
  • Spend the day exploring Denali National Park. Take the Shuttle Transit Bus for a 6-hour tour. Enjoy extensive wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery at your own pace.

Day 9 — Denali National Park

  • Enjoy an unplanned day in the Denali Area – you might want to sign up for the Denali Ranger Led Discovery Hike or renting a bike or day hiking
  • Take an evening wilderness 3-hour ATV Tour – Enjoy an all-you-can-eat wilderness BBQ

Raft the Nenana River

Day 10 — Denali to Anchorage

  • Take a white-water rafting tour or a scenic float trip down the Nenana River (3-hour tour)
  • Enjoy a scenic drive down the Parks Highway from Denali to Anchorage (approx. 4-hour drive)
  • Explore Denali State Park – enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife viewing
  • Look for wildlife while you take a stroll along the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to explore the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge
  • Return your rental vehicle, transportation provided to the Anchorage Airport
