Travel across the Prince William Sound from Whittier to Vadez

Day 1 — Anchorage to Valdez

  • Arrival in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city located at the base of the Chugach Mountains
  • Check into a late model rental vehicle in Anchorage (vehicle provided with unlimited mileage)
  • Drive the beautiful Kenai Peninsula from Anchorage to Whittier (1.5 hours of drive time)
  • Visit a wildlife conservation center to learn about animal research, conservation and animal care – Stop to explore the Portage Glacier Valley & the Begich Boggs Visitor Center
  • Travel across the Prince William Sound aboard the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry from Whittier to Valdez (6-hour trip – vehicle transport  included)
  • Arrive in the small city of Valdez, located on the shores of the Prince William Sound.
  • Valdez lodging provided

Enjoy Wildlife Viewing and Calving Glaciers in the Prince William Sound

Day 2 — Prince William Sound

  • Enjoy a six-hour cruise into the Prince William Sound – visit Columbia Glacier to view glacier calving and wildlife viewing (hot meal included)
  • Visit Crooked Creek for Salmon and Wildlife Viewing
  • Travel down Dayville Road – a common area for Bear Viewing
  • Valdez lodging provided

Explore Wrangell St Elias National Park

Day 3 — Valdez to Glennallen

  • Enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive on the Richardson Highway from Valdez to Glennallen
  • Explore Worthington Glacier, Thompson Pass and Blueberry Lake – famous for Blueberries and wildflowers
  • Explore Wrangell St. Elias National Park & the Copper River Valley – Enjoy wildlife viewing and  beautiful mountain vistas
  • Glennallen lodging provided

Enjoy beautiful mountain views and wildlife viewing as you drive the backroads from Glennallen to Denali

Day 4 — Glennallen to Denali

  • Enjoy one of Alaska’s most famous wilderness drives; travel from Glennallen to Denali through 240 miles of wilderness – the drive includes the remote Richardson Highway, the Denali Highway (a dirt road of 130 miles), and part of the Parks Highway
  • Drive the first 15 miles of the Denali National Park Road to Savage River, where it is common to see Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep, and Grizzly Bears
  • Take a 3.5-hour tour in the Denali back-country traveling in a horse-drawn covered wagon – enjoy a wilderness BBQ gourmet meal (all-you-can-eat dinner)
  • Denali area lodging is provided

Spend the day exploring Denali National Park

Day 5 — Denali National Park

  • Watch a Denali Nat’l Park Ranger sled-dog presentation
  • Pick up a picnic backpack lunch for your day in Denali National Park
  • Spend the day exploring Denali National Park- travel on the Shuttle Transit Bus for an 6-hour tour – Enjoy extensive wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery at your own pace
  • Denali area lodging is provided

Enjoy wildlife viewing and mountain vistas in Denali State Park

Day 6 — Denali to Anchorage

  • Enjoy a scenic drive down the Parks Highway from Denali to Anchorage (approx. 4-hour drive)
  • Explore Denali State Park – Enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife viewing
  • Stop for  lunch at the McKinley View Cafe – famous for it’s homemade pie and up-close view of Denali
  • Explore the unique history of Anchorage on the Anchorage Trolley Tour
  • Look for wildlife while you take a stroll along the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to explore the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge
  • Return rental vehicle, transportation provided  to the Anchorage Airport
